Teacher Appreciation Week DIY

Hey all,

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, though my little tot is 3 and in MOD (mothers day out) he has two teachers so they do apply. Now don’t take this the wrong way, but I hate giving gifts. This is simply for the fact that I stress out over what to get and If it’ll be liked and then start to talk myself out of whatever it is most of the time then do it all over again. Other then that I actually enjoy giving, sharing, and surprising, yes haha a little bit contradictive huh… Anyways, I went round and round battling it out with my inner self,  to later come to the conclusion we would just make our two lovely teachers something a little bit more heart felt. Y’all, I could not be more proud of Brantley and myself at the moment. After awhile of searching for some Pinterest inspiration (not many will admit that) something cute and corny, nothing really jumped out. So we went to our craft box and endd up with popsicle sticks and paint. What 3 year old do you know who doesn’t just love either of these two things?  Then added a little bit of what I think would be ‘Southern Living’ and ‘Pottery Barn’ (burlap and rhinestones), to spice things up.  Not bad aye?

Final Product:

Cute little initialed hanging wall decor

And here’s the back.

A quick little thank you, though I should have dated it. Didn’t think about it till now lol oh well.

Supplies:

  • 10 large popsicle sticks
  • Glue (hot & Elmer’s)
  • Card stock
  • Water paint
  • Black & white paint (I used  )
  • Burlap
  • Twine
  • Assorted rhinestones
  • Scissor
  • Small paint brush
  1. Glued Popsicle sticks
  2. White paints then black details
  3. Drew letters
  4. Water paint
  5. Cut and glued to frame
  6. Hot glued twine to the back
  7. Hot glued rhinestone to burlap and burlap to frame
  8. Elmer’s glued little rhinestones randomly

Till next time my friends.

Xoxo

Power Rangers DIY Costume

Hey all!

This one has been sitting here for a bit. To be honest i kind if forgot about doing this post. So here it is late but better than never, just wanted to share a quick DIY with you today! As some of you might have seen, we went with a halloween family theme again this year, as Power Rangers. This was Brantley’s chosen them, he’s a but obsesssed with the Power Rangers at the moment. I would aso like to shot out to the hubs, good job babe for actually prticipating! On to the tutorial. This was fairly simple to achieve.

What you need:

  • (Optional) Clothing dyes
  • Shirt & (Optional) Leggings
  • Felt
  • Hot glue
  • (Optional) tube socks (over the ankle but not knee)

Basically, I couldn’t find the right color shades or the right sizes for hubs and baby, so I figured instead of buying to settle why not save money and make it myself. So for the boys I took white shirts they already had and dyed them.

Next I cut out diamonds from the felt and hot glue them down. And Ta-Da you have a quick Halloween outfit. I did decided to do a little more on the baby’s and add the cuffs to mine since it was a long sleeve.

Xoxo,

-Britt

Dark brown to Platinum Blonde

Now if you follow me on insta or on my facebook blognbeauty page you already know I went all blonde but still frequently being asked about my hair. So I just wanted to share with you real quick my transitions. Let me tell ya, they sure are good, lol your bout to see.

First off I’ll just quickly tell you what I did and what I used. And a quick disclaimer: I am NOT a professional nor do I claim to be.. but I have been messing with my hair mostly myself since I was 11-12ish. So I half way know what I’m doing.🙃

And I’ll just quickly add I could careless if its damage or not in the bleaching process, its going to happen and can be fixed with a ton of condition treatments over time I’ve found. It does take time though…

Here is how I started, I’ll do another hair journey but this is my brown to blonde post.

Sorry in advance about the lighting. It’s aweful, the color isn’t completely true since it was real late. Therefore dark out, I had only bathroom lighting. Its looking more brassy than what it actually was, but don’t get me wrong there was a lot of orange going on. Bleached and toned. Then couple days went by, bleached and toned.

Btw…I decided to use all Wella products. The bleach, 20 vol. developer, T-18 toner. All Wella from Sally’s.

A week went by till i decided to bleach again. The third bleaching was done by a friend who wanted to do it, all same products used we only added olaplex into the bleaching and was talked into a cut.

Then I decided a week later to go for another bleaching at home. I was wanting white as my goal but I’m definitely loving where I’m at right now. It’s getting close. I’ll eventually get there to my white while my hair grows out, then transition back to the ombre bayalage. This is what it looks like a natural light!

I’ll keep you updated if I decide to do anything else, but as of right now I’m pretty content with where my hair stands as of right now!

Have a lovely rest of the week!

Xoxo,

-Britt

I shaved my eyebrows

It just got real up on this blog! Truth just came out. I understand people have been doing this for awhile, that I’m not one of the first to do this. Before you freak out on me let me just say I only shaved half way, only the tail, up to the highest part. Though I’m really thinking about going further now…I know a little bit ago a lot of people in the beauty world did this, but this is my newest beauty secret! Now Y’all, I tried it and LOVED IT! With a capital ‘L’!

Now I do normally get good feedback response on brows anyway but here recently it’s been phenomenal! I kid you not, just about everytime I walk out the door someone is mentioning “how Great” my brows are looking. And everytime they don’t even realize half of it is actually missing! So if your not scared and think you can handle it, go for it! If your not good at brows, we’ll hunny your bout to learn how to swim so you don’t sink or it will probably be a disaster, not even gonna lie. Cause without makeup your gonna be looking pretty scary with literally half of your brow being non existent, when it was literally just all there.

Let me tell you why I even decided to try this. The tail of my brows aren’t so hot to begin with. They’re patchy and no where near being even remotely similar to each other. That being said, I didn’t have much to loose to try it and it wasn’t the first time to cross my mind about it. Then one day randomly on YouTube seeing Jenna Marbles do it, I had to immideatly give it a try (though she took hers completely off). Hey I was already a pro with my brow game having hair and wanted to see if I was a pro without.

But not being a morning person nor the girl I used to be, with having a full face everyday anymore (babies happend) it never crossed my mind I’d have to commit to an everyday thing. It’s so worth it though. So learn from me if you don’t have the extra time to spend, at least on your brows, don’t do it.

It’s been about 3 weeks and they have been growing back.

As you can see here without the tail and being completely drawn on. Some days I want bigger bolder brows and other days I’m more laid back going with a medium thickness. As of right now and the passed, I’m not a fan of a skinny brow at least on myself. Big is Beautiful💕💕

So I don’t neccisarly have to have the same shape everyday If I don’t want to. I can get pretty creative if I feel the urge, which I have been playing around with lately. This is just my newest beauty experiment. Which by the way I have been using my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade and sometimes powders to achieve my look. So if you decide to do it let me know how it goes for you or if you have been doing this , what your thoughts are!

Hope your day is wonderful.

Xoxo,

Britt

The Uppity Cosmetologist

Here lately I can’t keep seem to stay consistent. Not with just social media or blogging nor with my hair. One day with ombre, ends lightened till white, to purple, back to all brown, again with ombre, then to all blonde, also cut what seems like 5 inches so everyone would leave me alone about my dead ends(not that I even cared, I’m pretty convinced everyone just wanted me to cut it off), just thought I would be satisfied but no. The truth is I don’t think I’ll ever be satisfied. It runs deeper. It’s definitely an addiction. Though it doesn’t start here it started a long time ago, we’ll save that for another time, though here within the last year I’ve been changing my hair a bunch.

I’ll let you in on a little secret, I don’t have any plans on stopping anytime soon either. You see, obviously I’m not gonna let it fall out, but here’s the thing. Since it’s MY hair and I’m not absolutely head over heels in love with it, I WILL continue to do what I CHOOSE  till I’m 100% in love with it. Which is why I don’t enjoy trips to salons or many lisenced cosmetologist, i hate that they seem to have a tendency to do whatever THEY WANT. They end up chopping like a zillion inches off, to be an almost long bob if your lucky, of what was supposed to be a ‘Trim’.

If I want splits ends, yes, I will keep MY split ends. You can tell me over and over until your blue in the face,  “Oh your ends! You need to cut this much off!” No, lady I know my hair better then you, I’ve revived and mended my hair before (sure it takes awhile) but I can do it again.

I’m sorry for being so blunt but I’m so tired of all these license cosmetologist thinking anyone who does not have a license are beneath them. For some reason they seem to think women like myself are completely incapable of doing our own hair. When just about every time I’ve went and had my hair done I don’t get what I asked for, even when I show them a picture. I’m talking about not even coming close.

I’ve been doing my own hair since I was like 10. Now I’m 22… I know what I want (well usually, but I know what I like) , and if anyone is going to screw my hair up it’s going to be me. I don’t mind rocking alittle brass, orange or yellow for a small amount of time. I know what’s on and under all that I’ve got going on, and I’m fine with doing it myself most of the time.

In conclusion this is my hair and it will grow back it’s not a big deal. Ultimately it’s my hair. So sorry I’m not sorry, I don’t appreciate your wasted opinions on something I don’t even have to explain to you…

Here’s what it is for the moment.💕Have a wonderful weekend.

Brantley’s 3rd B-day (Paw Patrol)

So Brantley’s party was a couple weeks ago  now. It may not have been Pinterest worthy but it was definitely cute in my opinion. For planing it in a little less than 2 weeks, I’d say I did alright. I was a tad bite lazy this year due to being slightly exhausted from the baby, school, building our house, and other life events. Though I’d like to share with you several highlight pictures! Our theme this year ended up being the much loved  Paw Patrol. I swear we have seen every episode 3 zillion times. Brantley will sometimes quote along with the show.

Finding local Paw Patrol paty supplies was kinda difficult, either its a really popular party choice or its horribly stocked.
For being a last second cake it was okay, it wasnt at all what I had invisioned. Though when running out of time the hubs did a good job finding something on such short notice. Though we did some last second rearranging, helped some what too.
This year I made friends with Mr. Printer. Though all the cutting was not my cup of tea.
For being a home made pinata, wasn’t bad ey?! I can definatley do a DIY pinata post. It was so easy , just a little time consuming.

Teaching our kids kindness

I’ve been noticing how my toddler is really picking up on things. He’s at the point where he’s starting to repeat everything he hears. It’s a little bittersweet. But I have to say I am so proud of him! Hes really been doing a fantastic job with his manners, sometimes I have to remind him but he understands when they need to be used.

For instance when our ac went out and the ac repair man came he was caught saying “yes ma’am” when I asked him to pick up his toys , this came as a huge shock to the man. He wasn’t expecting  that to come out of his mouth.

Or how the other day, when I was pulling up at the house, the mail man came around the corner to deliver our mail. I decided this would be a good example to bring to Brantley’s  (my toddler) attention, to bring the man a cold water. That small act of kindness not only affected the mail man but Brantley as well. Though the look on our mail mans face was completely pricless. The appreciation in his eyes (I may add it was 100 degrees outside, in Louisiana) especially coming from a child. That led to bringing some construction workers down the road some water too.

Now my kids were bound to have good manners and show kindness, my parents and were very adamant that we were to have this trait (then again I’m also a southern woman..well southern baptist) . So it was only natural for me to pass it on. I guess you could say it was really important to me to start him young.

It’s so important to me because have you not noticed the kids these days? The mouths on them? The lack of attention they have been shown? The rudeness they possess? It’s is sweet music to my ears with every ‘yes ma’am’ , ‘no ma’am’, ‘please’, ‘thank you’, etc. I hear out of that sweet little boys mouth! Is it not to yours? These manners are infact love, respect, kindness. I feel it is my duty as a mother to model these actions to help teach him as he grows. I love teachable moments.

These are just a few of many more small acts of kindness and his manners, they will with no doubt continue to grow. These small generous acts could really up lift a broken spirit, help heal a hurt or something much more. Kindness matters all the time. We’re called to love others just as God loves us. To spread  the love means showing kindness and compassion to others.

Lorac pro highlight & contour palette

Hey there friends!

I hope your having a wonderful week! I just thought I’d share my favorite contour palette! Now Lorac is one of my favorite brands. So that might make me a little biased, but don’t get me wrong I like trying new things. But this post is all about the Lorac Pro Contour palette.

I love the shades of the colors; I feel like this palette is pretty universal. This contour palette is powder but feels so creamy, just look at these swatches. You can literally see how velvety these shades are for yourself!

I also use the contour shades for eyeshadow when I’m on a time crunch and need to do a quick natural eye look. I know this isn’t a new palette but it’s definitely my favorite. I use it everyday, mainly because of the contour colors. It’s so lightweight and buildable. Whether I want a subtle contour or a deep dramatic one, this contour palette is gonna get me there. The only thing that I don’t really like is the shimmer highlight, I mean it’s okay but only okay. I’m not really a fan of a white highlight… It could be better. When it comes to highlights I’m a becca cosmetic girl all the way, I just haven’t found anything that compares. Other than that I love everything from the packaging  to the way it goes on and everything in between!

The contour brush that comes In the package is just a bonus, which I really enjoy as well. I’ll put a link in for my Lorac highlight and contour tutorial so you can see my daily routine!

Be sure to check out my tutorial!
